TSC Teachers Medical Insurer AON Adopts New Client Identification Methods to Access Services

Coronavirus has brought almost everything to a standstill and AON has joined other companies in offering to reduce the spread of the coronavirus by advising against the use of biometrics that involves direct contact with customers such as the use of fingerprints.

The Novel Coronavirus remains viable on surfaces for hours or even days. It is crucial to replace the use of fingerprints as biometrics for the identification of teachers seeking medical attention.

Mr. Muthui, the AON Kenya Managing Director speaking to the Press on Tuesday said, “To reduce exposure, we have recommended that hospitals switch from fingerprints to alternative methods of identifying patients) such as access cards, optical, facial and voice recognition among other options.”

Mr. Muthui also recommended that services provided should allow the use of a one-time pin (OTP) and cards to identify customers instead of fingerprints.

The AON managing director also implored AON service providers to put hand washing terminals and in all areas of their operation. Besides, he pointed out that teachers will continue accessing medical services during these difficult moments.

Mr. Muthui said, “We are available to provide updates on self-quarantine, ambulatory and hospital support through 0732353535, 0729471414 and 0800721316.”
