Luweero District Police has apprehended a school director at Busula for the alleged defilement of a Primary Seven pupil in his own school.
The police have confirmed that thorough investigations into the matter have been launched.
“The suspect is under police custody while the case file is with the State Attorney for perusal and advice before the suspect is arraigned before court,” Mr Issah Ssemwogerere, the Savannah regional police spokesperson, said on Thursday.
The headmaster allegedly threatened his victim that she never had to disclose the matter to anyone or she would face problems.
According to Ms Fatuma Mbabazi, the mother of the victim, her daughter informed her on the incidents due to the severe pain after the repeated aggravated sexual acts by the school director who always coerced the girl to take her school bag to the office at 10:00pm.
“The girl revealed that the school director always told the matron to allow the girl to take the school bag to the office of the director of the school after the school preps at 10.00pm. The director threatened to curse and ensure that she fails the Primary Leaving Exams (PLE) if she ever disclosed the incident,” Mbabazi revealed in her statement to police in Luweero.
Ms Mbabazi further informed the police that checkup results revealed severe damage and infections that result from being abused.
“When we took the girl for a medical checkup, the medics discovered that she has infections that need treatment among other collaborative evidence that point to forced sexual acts. At the time of arrest, the suspect who pleaded guilty tried to use his relatives to enter into negotiations with the parents. We have lost trust in the school officials and demand that the suspect be taken to court. My daughter is in great pain,” she said
