Computer Teacher Arrested after Hacking Several School Accounts and Defrauds Parents Over 300K

A Computer teacher in Meru County, Mr. Tobias Mnangala Sifuna, has been arrested after he successfully hacked into four school portal accounts and managed to defraud parents over Ksh. 300,000.

The teacher who has been working at Iruru Girls High School in Meru County as an ICT teacher went into hiding after he realized he was being sought after.

The Tharaka Nithi Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said that parents from Chuka Boys High School reported to them that they made school fees payments to the school account details but the money was not reflected in the school accounts.

These parents’ report plunged the DCI detectives to commence their investigations into the matter.

DCI officers found out that the Chuka Boys High School portal had been hacked into, and school payment account details changed.

Mr. Sifuna (the hacker) had corrupted the portal and changed the payment account details to his paybill number.

Teacher Arrested in Nyandarua County after Hacking four School Accounts

On sensing that the matter was out of hands, Mr. Sifuna went at large and was arrested on Thursday at Ndaragua in Nyandarua County.

Mr. Sifuna agreed to have hacked the Chuka Boys High School Portal and that of three other schools.

Kisumu Girls in Kisumu County, Nep Girls, and Garissa High School are among the schools Mr. Sifuna claims he had hacked into.

The DCI detectives reported that Mr. Sifuna has fraudulently received over Ksh. 300,000 form the parents.
